Dr. Kristin Ingram, DVM
Dr. Kristin Ingram is the Medical Director at the Animal Hospital of North Charleston.
She was born in Murray, KY, and spent most of her childhood in southwestern and northern Virginia. Her father was born and raised in North Charleston, and she is a 4th generation Bishop England graduate, so she has always considered her beloved Charleston, SC, home. Growing up next door to a veterinarian and an entomologist, she was destined to go into a scientific field, and veterinary medicine became her dream. She completed her Bachelor of Science at Virginia Tech, graduating in 2004. She worked as a veterinary technician for a number of years after college, and also worked as a research assistant with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, under the guidance of the State Wildlife Veterinarian. She journeyed to the small island of St. Kitts to complete her DVM at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and while there also had the opportunity to participate in leatherback sea turtle research and sea turtle rehabilitation. She graduated from Ross University in September 2012, after completing her clinical year at Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine.
She and her husband Jay have been married for 9 years, and they have two little girls, 2 dogs and a cat. She loves spending time with her family, reading, and watching college football (GO HOKIES!!!)!
Dr. Wendy W. Carter, DVM
Dr. Wendy Carter accomplished her dream of becoming a veterinarian in 2000 when she graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her dream of becoming a veterinarian started at a much younger age, out of her innate love for animals and genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of pets.
Dr. Carter joined the medical team at The Animal Hospital of North Charleston in September 2018, and has professional interest in soft-tissue surgery. If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Dr. Carter yet, she is the doctor with blue and purple hair!
Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Dr. Carter currently resides in Summerville with her husband and two children. Her pet family is an adorable group of two Boston Terriers named Serena and Frances, a French Bulldog named Natasha, and a three-legged brown tabby cat named Chocolate Chip. Her overachieving pets know two tricks: eating and shedding.
When Dr. Carter is not seeing pets at The Animal Hospital of North Charleston, she enjoys crocheting, watching sci-fi and superhero movies, and going for a drive. Her go-to cuisine is Italian, and she doesn’t believe in going light on the cheese. Dr. Carter also volunteers her time with Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that packs shoebox gifts for those in need.
Dr. Kaitlin Guffey, DVM
Dr. Kaitlin Guffey is an Associate Veterinarian at The Animal Hospital of North Charleston. She attended the College of Charleston for her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2015, and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Dr. Guffey completed her clinical year at Auburn University and her areas of professional interest include dermatology and preventative care in all species.
Dr. Guffey was inspired to become a veterinarian through her love of caring for animals of all kinds. She realized a passion for science and was thrilled to bring her two passions together to help make a difference in the lives of animals and the community.
Dr. Guffey grew up in Summerville, South Carolina and currently resides there with her husband, Jeremiah. They also share a home with many four legged family members which include a Golden Retriever, Chihuahua Mix, four cats, a rabbit, hamster, bearded dragon, and pacman frog! When she is not caring for animals. you can find Dr. Guffey exploring the outdoors with her husband and dogs, doing yoga and kickboxing, and catching up on her favorite TV shows.
Desiree, Practice Manager
With 18 years of experience, Desiree is certainly no newcomer to the veterinary field. Currently in the process of earning her B.A. in business management and Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) Certification, Desiree keeps the Animal Hospital of North Charleston running smoothly for the staff that she views as incomparable and the absolute best. Although she is not a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or a Veterinary Technician, Desiree is an invaluable asset to the team. During her free time, Desiree enjoys riding and training horses and is interested in canine behavior. Her pug, Rufus, is the office mascot and can howl and sing along to opera music!
Megan, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Recently graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Trident Technical College, Megan is practicing her passion for the betterment of animals as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. While Megan has been working in the veterinary field for four years, the fellow veterinarians, technicians, and staff at The Animal Hospital of North Charleston have become less like coworkers and more like family. When away from the hospital, Megan savors time with friends and family and time at the beach.
Amanda, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Amanda started working in the veterinary field in 2012 and is presently a Licensed Veterinary Technician at The Animal Hospital of North Charleston. Originally from Madison, WI, Amanda graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Madison College. She also completed internships in small animal medicine at Truesdell Animal Care Hospital and Clinic and large animal medicine at Dodgeville Veterinary Service. In her free time, Amanda enjoys practicing her photography skills, creating veterinary lyrics to popular songs, and spending time with her two feline friends, Fred and Marlon.
Mandy, Veterinary Technician
Mandy has a fondness for all animals and finds fulfillment in treating animals as if they were her own. She attained her degree from Piedmont Technical College and is now working as part of our team as a Veterinary Technician. With over 14 years of practice, her experience and expertise shine through as she provides exceptional care for all clients and patients at the Animal Hospital of North Charleston. At home, Mandy rescued three animals, Josie a canine, and two felines, Ms. Kitty and Jack.
Tracy, Veterinary Technician
Always having a desire to help animals, Tracy has worked at several veterinary clinics since she was in high school. Realizing she wanted to pursue a career in the veterinary field, Tracy became a veterinary technician. Originally from Saratoga Springs, NY, Tracy now enjoys the South Carolina lifestyle with her two children. At home, Tracy enjoys spending time with all of her four-legged family members. She has three dogs, 2 cats and a horse! When Tracy is away from The Animal Hospital, she is happiest at the barn or the beach.
Nicole, Veterinary Technician
Nicole is a Veterinary Technician with a love for animals and a fascination with biology and lab work. Originally from the small town of Griswold, CT, Nicole earned an associate degree from Three Rivers Community College and completed the Veterinary Certificate Program at Quinebaug Valley Community College. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys horseback riding, photography, crafting, and playing the violin. Nicole currently has a menagerie of pets at home, including a Welsh Corgi, Pitbull mix, horse, and two guinea pigs.
Parker, Veterinary Technician
Parker is a Veterinary Technician inspired to make life better for pets, especially Chihuahuas. He started working in the veterinary field in 2012 and has professional interests in animal welfare, the client experience, marketing, and management. Parker’s favorite pet was a toothless Chihuahua named Derby. Fun fact: Parker is a professional illustrator!
